ABSA hosts women in business seminar
Networking, enrichment, motivation, were the order of the day as ABSA Enterprise and Supply Chain Development invited women in business to their event held at Mmabatho Palms on 8 September.
“We have had conferences in the past but nowadays we are focused on making connections that matter, the first connection we need to make is with ourselves”, Nokwezi Luswazi, head of Business Development Support Enterprise and Supply Chain Development at ABSA, alluding to the purpose of the day. “I was pleased to see that the theme today is be your own hero. Sometimes we look for answers external to ourselves, external to our environment. African women have so much to give because of their rich experiences and knowledge”, said Luswazi.
The key note speaker was Zipho Sikhakhane who is a global speaker, entrepreneur and investor. Born in Madadeni, a small township in Northern KwaZulu Natal, Sikhakhane captivated the audience when she shared the story of her upbringing, challenges and achievements.
One of the speakers was Matshediso Jansen Mwase who is acting HOD of the Department of Finance, Economy and Enterprise Development in the North West Province. “There is nothing more powerful than believing in yourself. You can achieve greater heights by believing in yourself”, said Jansen-Mwase who was presenting under the theme “moving out of your comfort zone”. “No matter your circumstances in life, you will definitely achieve your goals, if you are committed to your dreams”, encouraged Jansen-Mwase who has recently undergone a major ear operation and survived a car accident in 2014.
Proceedings went well despite an unexpected interruption. The programme had to be paused and everyone taken out of the venue due to urgent investigations which had to be conducted by Mmabatho Palms.
Ten people walked away happily as they won free expo visitor tickets to the Enterprise Supplier Development Expo sponsored by ABSA to be held at Gallagher Convention Centre, Johannesburg on 20 September. One person also won a price in a form of a stall which will also be sponsored by ABSA.
